Another single from the group’s upcoming sophomore full-length, ¿Banana?’s “Salo’s Lament” is a mournful, plaintive folk-ballad, sparkling with wistfulness and sharp melodicism. Sam Herring’s production shines through an exquisitely delicate arrangement, adding enough studio magic to the duo to underscore them without overwhelming them. In the center of the song’s swirl, however, as always we find two perfectly harmonized, perfectly present voices, and a gently strummed guitar. ¿Banana? have their own magic too, and “Salo’s Lament” displays it perfectly.
